The Playpen

An exhilarating two day experience in creative and collaborative improvisational 'play' with Andy Crook and John Dawson

Develop your confidence, creativity and spontaneity!

Under Andy's guidance:   Participants explore means of self- expression through simple exercises and physical actions in the spirit  of pure 'play'...on their own as well as in pairs and in a group. This develops sensitivity and physical awareness/rhythm/musicality, releasing the different dynamics of the body and extending one's impulses to inhabit an exiting world of new possibilities.

Under John's guidance:  Participants explore and play various improvisation games and exercises to develop personal intuitive skills,  mental/emotional agility, physical trust and heightened  communication/collaboration abilities, therefore enabling them to more fully express themselves as individuals and within a group.

ANDY CROOK trained at the Ecole International Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He is an actor and director who has worked with several innovative theatre companies across Europe, UK and USA. He has taught acting and movement for over 20 years in various accredited drama schools in the UK including eight years on the professional acting programme at Trinity College Dublin where he became Course Co-ordinator. He is co-founder and director of Actor Training Ireland and of Articulate Anatomy Theatre Company.

JOHN DAWSON studied and acted with numerous comedy troupes including N. America’s famous Second City (the forerunner and principal casting pool of 'Saturday Night Live'). He has taught improv and acting for over 18 years for institutions in Ireland and abroad, including London’s Actors Centre, the Gaiety School of Acting and Trinity College’s Samuel Beckett Centre in Dublin, the Galway Film Centre and Toronto’s Equity Showcase Theatre. He is a produced playwright, screenwriter and director.
