The Zoo Story (1997)

‘The Zoo Story’ by Edward Albee (Aug/Nov) – The Blue Room, VTOS, George’s Street, Newbridge.

This is the story of what happens to a nice, respectable, middle-aged man who is sitting on a park bench in New York one Sunday. He is confronted by a young, aggressive and fascinating New Yorker who succeeds in capturing the older man’s attention by telling him bizarre and horrifying tales from his own experience. A relationship grows between the men, culminating in a profound challenge to the older one’s belief and values. It all ends with darkness and tragedy and leaves the audience feeling slightly perturbed and moved.

The play was directed by Peter Hussey  and featured Darren Donahue and Hugh McGinley.
