Carlow Youth Theatre (CYT)
Carlow Youth Theatre (CYT) is managed and developed by Crooked House Theatre Company. We are funded and supported by Carlow County Council Arts Office.
CYT offers weekly drama workshops, performance opportunities, leadership development, and international exchange programmes for young people in County Carlow.
About Carlow Youth Theatre
Carlow Youth Theatre provides a safe, creative and inclusive space for young people to explore theatre through process drama and collaborative performance-making. Our work promotes positive mental health, confidence, teamwork, imagination, critical thinking and active citizenship.
Workshops focus on devising original work, performance skills, collaboration, and leadership development. Membership is free and open to young people of all backgrounds.

Every Monday evenings
• Junior Group (Ages 11–13) ⏰ 5:00PM – 6.30PM
• Senior Group (Ages 14–18) ⏰ 7.00PM – 9.00PM
The facilitator
Yakup Baş
Director, Kildare Youth Theatre
Yakup is an actor who trained in Suleyman Demirel University in Turkey. He worked as a facilitator in different theatres, agencies and Isparta Social Services and Child Protection Institution. He also took part as an assistant director in several plays. He was an ESC volunteer with Crooked House and is now Director of KIldare Youth Theatre. He has trained with Corn Exchange, Dublin and Frantic Assembly, London. In addition to running Kildare Youth Theatre where he facilitates workshops and directs plays, he facilitates socially engaged theatre projects.

Safeguarding & Policies
Carlow Youth Theatre operates under Crooked House Theatre Company’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies. All facilitators are Garda Vetted, and a Welfare Officer is in place.
