Crooked House Theatre Company is based in Newbridge, County Kildare. In 1993 Peter Hussey founded a drama group with adults on one of Ireland’s first VTOS programmes (an adult education programme to retrain long-term unemployed adults in Ireland’s economic crisis on the late 1980s and early 1990s). The project became Crooked House Theatre company, working with marginalised and sidelined adults in several sectors. Early programmes included collaborations with the Irish Wheelchair Association, Women’s Education Collectives, local and national drug task forces, Maynooth University’s Youth & Community Work programmes, Adult & Community Education, and Trócaire (campaigning for global social justice).
